Climb aboard the Eden Galactic rocket ship and blast off for a dream holiday on Mars…don’t forget your Factor 50m cosmic block!
Story Juice wrote and directed Mission To Mars, in collaboration with Eden Project and NSC Creative.
Set in 2080, visitors are space tourists greeted by Eden Galactic’s universe tour guides as they enter the departure lounge of a futuristic spaceport, board their scheduled rocket ship and blast out of the atmosphere, the shuttle shaking with the force of lift off as they begin their all-inclusive trip to Mars.
Once docked with the Star Liner, they take off on a Universe Cruise, remembering the first moon landing as they fly past it, warp touring the key sights of the cosmos and surviving scary dust storms as Captain Peggy Goodwin brings them to land safely on Mars, where more adventure unfolds as they leave behind the luxuries of Earth and learn what it takes to live on the rocky red planet.
The shared immersive experience combines live performance, audience interaction, large scale and half dome projection, epic audioscapes and awe-inspiring sets in a seven-scene spectacle for the whole family that reflects on the fun and harsh realities of space travel, a potential future on Mars and our place in the universe.
More than 200,000 people experienced the 30-minute immersive production, which formed part of an Expedition Space event at Eden Project running throughout the summer holidays.
One of the goals was to inspire the scientists of the future with entertaining characters and a relatable speculative future. We achieved that by humanising the science, carefully integrating the live and digital performance to bring the storyworld alive and putting the audience at the narrative heart of it all.
